Let's Play Pokemon Pearl Part 4: Who's the N00b?

Before I start, a quick look at our new Pokemon:
Abra/Kazza, Machop/RokHardAbs, Zubat/OpenWide, Geodude/Igneous, Girugamon, Patamon.
Let's return to Route 203, shall we?

Hey, it seems a bit cloudy, is it going to rain? Anyway, here is yet another youngster, will this one have respect for his elder?

Youngster: Bidoof lvl 5, Zubat lvl 5

Right behind him, to the right, ironically, is a Pokeball, we can use these later to catch other references.

Rt 203 is full of trainers, and they are all out to get us, I'm so scared.

Youngster: Kricketot lvl 7
Lass:
Bidoof lvl 4, Starly lvl 4, Budew lvl 4
Youngster: Machop lvl 7
Lass: Starly lvl 5, Bidoof lvl 5

Did she really get a Gym Badge with a level 5 Starly and Bidoof? I guess we know who has a Gameshark.

Well, to the left of the second Lass is a Repel. This item repels (really?) low level wild Pokemon for appearing for 100 steps. Now we go right to go through the Oreburgh Gate. (it's a fucking cave!)

Absent: My mom always told me not to talk to strangers.
Bo'Rai Cho: I am Bo'Rai Cho, don't really know how I got here, but I have this HiM for some reason.
Absent: You mean HM?
Bo'Rai Cho: Yeah, that, since you seem like a nice guy, you can have it. (I gotta lay off the sake)

Absent: Well, thanks, you are too kind.
Bo'Rai Cho: ...Zzzz...

Yeah, well awkward...and onward, oh damn, more battles?

But, she is still in the cave, she never really gets through it, sad life to be programmed in a video game...

Camper: Shinx lvl 7
Picnicker: Budew lvl 5, Psyduck lvl 5

Signs never lie, this energetic fellow just pops up when we get down the stairs. He generously offers us to take us to the Gym, at the risk of looking like a "total noob" (I can't believe he actually says that).

Holy Chr----uh, Lucifer? It's Satan!

Satan: You're finally here? As slow as always, I see.
Absent: I'm slow? It took you 'til dusk to say that.

What kind of come back was that? Weak....So about this Gym Leader, he is in Oreburgh Mine, and Satan already got his Badge, so he leaves us, like a prick.

Worker: Yes?
Absent: Just wanted to see if I can talk to you over this fence, usually you can't
Worker: Is that really what you're bothering me for?
Absent: Actually, do you know where the Gym Leader to this town is?
Worker: Head south of here, you'll find him. (idiot)

These Pokemon really DO get busy. o_O

As you get in the mines, there is a X Defend to the right. X Defend is an in-battle item that boost your active Pokemon's defense until the end of the battle.

It got cloudy again, maybe it's from all the coal. Here we have a Potion, *cough* and *cough* we need to clear this *cough* air out.

That's better, we are being taught by this androgynous man what Rock Smash does.

It smashes rocks! And we find out that this is Roark, the town's Gym Leader, and he runs back to his Gym so we can challenge him.

Looky here, we got an Escape Rope. This is used to get out of caves and return to the entrance. Before we challenge Roark, we will talk to some people in the buildings north of the Gym.

This ball is actually just good.

What a lazy bastard. He actually wants us to go out and catch a Zubat for him. Oh I'll show him a Zubat alright.

Absent: That's right, Zubat, ATTACK!

This is all he has? Whatever, at least Zubat is happy. Heal Ball is a Pokeball that will completely heal the Pokemon caught with it.

In the next building we get ourselves a Dusk Ball. These are Pokeballs that are best used at night or catching Pokemon in caves.

I caught me an extra Machop for this deal. Though Abra can't attack, unless you teach it a TM, breed it, or it get tutored, psychic Pokemon are always useful.

Here is that Abra, which she named Kazza for some reason, all the better for me, I had nothing to call it. Another good thing about trading is that the Pokemon gains more EXP per fight than Pokemon you caught yourself, therefore leveling up faster.

Absent: Hey guy that's standing here for no reason.
Guy: How'd you know my name? Well anyway, Roark uses Rock Pokemon. The Earth's outer layer is made of rock. Also, Gorons eat rocks. Megaman is named Rockman in Japan. Well...

Absent: You call that advice?

Looks like we'll have to deal with this all on our own, how will we survive?
In this Gym, you can take a longer route to skip the trainers, but why would I do that?

Isn't it obvious that I want to win? Why else would I be playing?

Youngster: Geodude lvl 10
Youngster: Geodude lvl 8, Onix lvl 8

Here's Roark, and I shall cut to video for this battle, remember the video is not the end of this part...

Or watch here:

He explained everything for me, and that I can use Rock Smash now, so let's just leave.

Absent: You just got here, and you called me slow?
Satan: Eterna City is where the next badge is, but we can't get past Rt 207 without a bike. I'm going back to Jubilife and taking the long way to Eterna. See, I'm a genius.
Absent: If you're so smart, why don't you count to 10.
Satan: one, two, sev-...

Okay, he leaves us, and we're left with one thing left to do...

Yay, this is fun, I'll be breaking rocks for a while, come back later. Weeeee
